Abstract
15,991. Sahmer, G. July 8. Electrically-controlled fastenings.-In an electrically controlled latch, a pin o at the end of a light rod m carrying the armatures n of a pair of electromagnets b is adapted to engage in a recess r in the bolt s, and lock it in its shot position. The rod is guided so as to move parallel to the axis of the magnets, which are wound continuously but have separate cores. When a current is sent through either electro-magnet, by means of a two-way switch, the locking-pin o is moved into or withdrawn from the recess r, as the case may be, by the attraction of the respective armature n. A spring t bears on the rod m, and may engage in slight notches in it. The ends of the magnet-cores are copper-covered, to prevent sticking, or both they and the armatures may be varnished. The relative positions of the bolt s and the electro-magnetic locking-device may be varied.
