Sodium nitrite.-To prevent separation of sodium bicarbonate during crystallization of solutions containing sodium nitrite and carbonate, such as are formed by dissolving nitrous gases in soda, the bicarbonate is converted into the more soluble monocarbonate, for example, by heating, conveniently effected by evaporating to a great concentration.
