5368. Parker, A. T. March 10. Tyres, pneumatic.-A protective non-skid cover comprises two series of overlapping steel shoes D, stiff enough to bear the weight of the vehicle without flattening, and thicker at the tread than at the edges. These shoes are shaped to fit the tyre and to come closely together at their edges d. This cover is secured to the tyre by side wires E, which pass through slots formed in the edges of the sections and are in one or more lengths with the ends joined by right and left hand nuts or other couplings. The outer plates are preferably formed with circumferential ribs d<1>, and the inner ones with additional transverse ribs d<2>. According to the Provisional Specification, the plates may be secured on the tyre by riveting them to flat metal hoops, and each plate may overlap the one next to it in the same order.
