26. Keats, B. F. C. Jan. 1. Impact-wheels.-A steam impact-wheel comprises a disk H, Figs. 1 and 2, carrying V-shaped buckets U arranged within a casing. Steam enters a pipe A and is directed by a nozzle L upon the buckets and exhausts through a pipe B. An adjustable block D prevents escape of steam round the peripheries of the buckets. The pipes A, B are in alinement and may be disposed in a main steam-pipe, the turbine furnishing power for auxiliary purposes.
