Tables.-The extra leaves of an extensible table are carried upon supporting-bars connected by links to the sliding side rails so that the leaves can be lowered and stowed beneath the top when not required and raised into alinement when the table is to be extended, without lifting the leaves from the table. As shown in an underside plan in Fig. 3, and in section in Fig. 2, one leaf 14 is supported upon bars 16 attached by links 15 to bars 5 fixed to the end piece 1 of the table top. The other leaf 13 is similarly supported upon a frame 23 attached by links 24 to bars 4 fixed to the other end 2 of the table top. The supports 16 of the leaf 14 are raised and lowered by means of an end bar 21 hinged to extensions 19 of the bars 16 so as to drop down when pulled out, while the frame 23 is adapted to be pulled outwards to lower the leaf 13 by a hand-hold 33 on a hinged rod 29, and to be pushed inwards by a knob 32. To contract the table the leaves are lowered and the bars 4, 5 on the parts 2, 1 are slid along bars 6 attached to a cross-piece 7 carrying a centre leg 34, until the leaves fit into recesses formed in pieces 11, 9 fitted to the parts 1, 2 of the table top. Guide-pieces 22 on the leaves serve to keep their dowel pins in alinement with the corresponding holes in the parts 1, 2 of the top.
