Boring; planing; Lathes; tool-holders.-Tools b, Figs. 1 and 2, are provided with transverse slots i engaging eccentric pins h on the heads k of pins g, which may be mounted in a boss of the holder, as shown, or in a sleeve secured in the holder. Collars o, slidably but not rotatably carried by the pins g, have index lines which co-operate with graduated surfaces n for setting the tool. Nuts p tighten the pins against accidental rotation. The heads k are made as shown in Fig. 4 so that by properly turning them, see Fig. 2, they may be raised in slots in the holder to liberate the tool. As applied to a lathe slide-rest or planing tool-box, the pin g is mounted in a pressure screw s, Fig. 6, for clamping purposes, and a lever t on the squared end q of the pin may engage a templet for producing waved surfaces or doing other copying work. In the case of a planing tool-holder for two tools cutting alternately on opposite strokes, the adjusting-device is mounted on the pivot pins. The apparatus is also shown applied to a boring- head.
