Conveyers.-The edges of the conveyer band are provided at intervals with bearing-parts to prevent it from coming into contact with the sides of the channel or trough, In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2 of a conveyer'by which hot coke may be conveyed and simultaneously slaked, the wovenwire band a slides on shoulders e formed on the channel d, and the edges are prevented from contacting with the sides of the channel by flat or angle-irons b attached at intervals to the band. In a modification, the bars b slide directly on the shoulders e while the band depends in the trough c. In a further modification, the edges of the bars are flush with the edges of the band and ride against guide ledges formed on the channel. The angleirons also serve to obviate back-flow when travelling on inclines and prevent the belt from sagging. The bearing-parts may be attached to the edges only of the band, the transverse portions being dispensed with.
