Elastic-fluid turbines.-A screw fan is driven by steam or compressed air acting on a ring of parallel-flow turbine blades arranged round the periphery of the fan rotor. Fig. 1 shows the fan blades and the ring 6 which supports the turbine blades 7. Motive-fluid supplied by a pipe 9 is delivered through nozzles 10 and exhausts into the air current. Figs. 2 and 3 show how each fan blade 2 is recessed and provided with a shoulder 5 to take the blade ring 6. The turbine blades may form an integral part with the fan vanes.
