Abstract

9890. Moeres, H. April 29. Corking.-The bottle neck g is placed on the end of the compressor tube d, and a cork b is placed in the position shown through an opening a<1>. The plunger f is then brought down by the hand-lever n. When the cork reaches the lower end of the tube d, a projection f<1> on the plunger strikes the upper end of a slide p and moves it downwards, the bottle neck being pushed off the tube d by a pushing piece o attached to the slide p, and the cork being forced from the tube d into the bottle neck. On the lever n being raised, the slide p is returned to its original position by a coiled spring S. The top part x of the slide p may be adjusted by a nut z<1>, so as to alter the stroke of the slide p.
