Capsule closures and the like; stopper washers.- A cap 3, of tinplate &c. lined with soft paper 4 and provided with a washer 5 of ' white wood,' is placed upon the mouth of the bottle, and the depending flange 3<a> is pressed smoothly and without corrugation against the bead 2 of the bottle neck. The seal is thus effected solely by compressing the paper 4 between the bead 2 and the flange 3<a>. The cap 3 may be stiffened by stamped corrugations 6, Fig. 3.
