Abstract
13,232. Gillette, K. C. June 27. Capsule closures.-An annular cap 1 of lard metal, such as tin, and an inner cap 4 of soft metal such as aluminium, and a packing-ring 8 are assembled as shown in Fig. 4, and when applied to a bottle, as in Fig. 3, the flange of the cap 1 is pressed or crimped into engagement with the bottle neck and the inner cap 4 is pressed down so as to overlap the flange of the cap 1 and clamp the packing-ring. In the form shown in Fig. 15, the inner cap is bent so that the doubled-over portion forms the lower flange. In either form, the cap 1 may be receesed so that the inner cap lies flush with the outer cap. The inner cap is non-corrosive, and easily punctured to open the vessel, and, as its lower flange rests on the mouth of the bottle, it protects the packing-ring from the contents of the vessel.
