Abstract

6 3 2 1. Reinier, B. April 2, 1906, [dats applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Sunken ships and objects, raising.-A cylinder for raising sunken ships &c. is sunk by opening an air cock A. Water then enters through a siphon tube T S which is bent so as to form a water seal in any position of the cylinder; or water may be allowed to enter through a cock V. When the cylinder is full, the cock A is closed. In order to refloat the cylinder, air is forced in through a siphon tube B G R, water escaping through the tube T S. Water in either end of the cylinder runs into the man-hole chamber, shown in Fig. 2, through tubes N, and thence to the outside through the exit E. Cocks C are provided for screwing on connecting-pipes for the combined, working of several cylinders.
