The bottom of the rubber is corrugated to correspond with projections on a plate k, to which the tyre is attached by means of bolts f, which enter the recesses ; nuts h on the ends of the bolts bear on plates g. Plugs c of rubber &c. are held frictionally in the recesses, and prevent ingress of dirt. In place of the above method of attachment, the tyre may be held in an ordinary rim, Fig. 6 ; the plugs in the case may be formed of concentric tubes of rubber.
