Abstract

2754. Lamoureux, E. Feb. 4. Loom shuttle.- A shuttle is provided with means for facilitating threading and for tensioning the weft. An upwardly extending flange 6 is secured by means of a plate 5 in a forward extension of the bobbin cavity, and has attached thereto a rolled flange 8, which extends into an aperture in the side of the shuttle. The weft 10 is looped round the end of the flange 6, so that it is drawn into a recess d, from which it is prevented from slipping by a shoulder e. The weft is drawn down the edge 7 of the flange into the rolled flange 8, and the free end of the weft can readily be drawn through the aperture. The weft between the recess a and the aperture passes over a notch in a flexible finger b, which is formed on the edge of the rolled flange 8 and extends an adjustable distance through an opening a in the flange 6, whereby tension is given to the weft. The edge f of the flange 6 is cut away, and adjacent to this edge there is secured in the shuttle cavity a filling-block, which practically fills the space between the flange 6 and the side of the cavity.
