Application filed October 2, 1923. Serial No. 666,117.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RICHARD STANDRING, a British subject, residing at Accrington, county of Lancaster, England, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shuttles for Looms for Veaving, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to loom shuttles constructed with a metal threading device or block inserted in the head by which the shuttle can be readily and easily threaded by hand without drawing the yarn through the eye by any form of suction such as described in my former British Patent No. 128,869 of 1919.
The invention consists of a threading device or block made in two parts one part comprising a guide plate on top to fill the gap in the shuttle head under which the yarn is passed and a downward projecting member forming a slot to receive the thread and prevent it unthreading and the other part comprising a curl to form the shuttle eye into which the yarn is directed to be taken hold of by the finger of the operative.
It will be fully described with reference to the accompanying drawings.

The threading device is made in two parts A and B which are secured together in the head of the shuttle C the part A forming a guide for the yarn and the part B forming the shuttle eye through which the yarn is drawn.
The part A is formed with a shank a by which it is secured to the shuttle, atop guide plate a of curved or D shape to fill the gap in the shuttle head and direct the yarn down into the interior, a side member a turned inwards with a hook at thebottom end projecting downward from the guide plate a to form a side passage (1 for the yarn and a slot or cut in the back of the shank a to direct the yarn to the shuttle eye.
The part B is formed with a shank b by which it is secured to the shuttle and a curl eye Z) with an extended guide member 79 which receives the yarn from the slot a and guides it into the centre of the eye.
The two parts A and B are together placed in the gap in the shuttle head and the shanks a and b are placed together and fitted tightly into a slot-I cut in the bottom of the shuttle and are secured rigidly in position by pins a driven transversely through the shuttle C.
The shuttle is threaded by passing the yarn round the underside of the top guide plate a under the side member a and through the s ide passages a and slot a into the curl eye I) the side member a preventing any unthreading of the yarn.
lVhat I claim as my invention and desire to protect by Letters Patent is The combination with a loom shuttle of a threading device formed in two parts, one part comprising a shank, top guide plate, and downwardly depending side member turned inward with a hook at the bottom end which form passages for the yarn and the other part comprising a curl eye into which the yarn is directed and pins mounted transversely through the two parts to retain them rigidly in position.
