Abstract
21,810. Groves, J. Oct. 3. Windows, hinged sliding. The sashes are balanced without weights by an arrangement of three pulleys on each side, and carry hinge eyes b which engage pins b<1> on the window frame, after the sashes have been partly opened. The sashes can then be swung inwards for cleaning, disengagement of the pivot members being prevented by the entry of prolongations into crossslots. The sash cords are attached to tubular cord-grips, Fig. 7, provided with cord-engaging horns n<2>. The hanging stiles of the sashes are tongued at g, to fit against corresponding grooves in the pulley-stiles. On the opening sides of the sashes, the outer lining and the pulley stiles are similarly tongued, at f and h, respectively. Rollers a<2>, b<3> on the pulley-stile retain the sashes in the sliding position, and slots a<4> in the sash stiles allow the sashes to pass the rollers.
