Abstract
19,051. Hotchner, J. Aug. 25. Advertising ; letters and numerals.-An illuminated sign consists of a light-transmitting sign, character, or panel provided with an opening and an illuminating means partly protruding through the opening, whereby the rays of the illuminating means are in part projected through the panel and in part on the exterior thereof. The face of the sign may be formed of glass, gauze, or other lighttransmitting material, the surface of the sign other than that forming the letters being opaque. In the constructions shown, the illuminating means consist of electric lamps 8 partly protruding through the panel. The interior surfaces of the casing may be rendered reflective, and a reflector 9 may also be employed. One manner of constructing the sign is shown in Fig. 4, the panel 6<b> resting upon the flanged edges 11 of the sides, and is secured in position by channel-iron 12. The sign panel shown in Fig. 2 comprises one letter only, the casing being constructed. to conform with the shape of the better.
