Abstract

18,171. Stevenson, G. S. Aug. 13. Spanners.-Ratchet wrenches are adjusted by means of pairs of superimposed ratchet disks having work-receiving holes eccentrically formed therein, each pair of disks being rotated relatively to one another. Figs. 3 and 4 show a doubleended ratchet spanner with flanged ratchet disks 5, 6, secured in position at one end between a ledge in the casing and the cover-plate 12. In one position, the two holes in the disks are coincident, but on rotating either of the disks relatively to the other into certain other fixed positions, smallersized nuts may be gripped. A pawl 14, controlled by a spring 16 fixed in a slot in the casing engages the ratchet teeth of both disks. Each disk is provided with indentations 18 to facilitate its rotation relatively to the other disk.
