Pressure-regulating valves.- Bunsen burners, especially those used for incandescent gas lamps, are provided with pressure-regulating valves for controlling the supply of gas regardless of pressure variation in the main. The burner consists of a nipple a, to which is screwed a cap a' with a reduced upper end, carrying the burner tube a<5> and chimney-support B. The supply of gas to the tube a<5> is regulated by means of a valve a<17> attached to a screw a<18> ; the valve controls the supply of gas to passages a<10>, a<11> in the nipple, the passages leading to a chamber a<12> formed between the cap a' and a cylinder a<2>, which is connected by a bar a<15> to a central boss a<13> of the nipple a. When the valve a<17> has been set, the supply to the tube a<5> is maintained constant by means of a needle valve a<3> attacbed to a disk a which works in the cylinder a<2>. The gas has access to the cylinder a<2> by way of a passage a<9>, so that the disk a' moves up or down according as the main pressure increases or diminishes. The valve a<3> thus opens wider as the pressure diminishes, and vice versa, thereby maintaining a constant supply to the burner.
