Abstract

12,850. Gembitski, S. S. June 1. Chairs.-A folding chair is made up of two rectangular frames, crossing but not pivoted to one another, and linked together above and below the point of crossing by pivoted links, the lengths of which are chosen that the jointed framework will adjust itself to any desired angle. The chair may, in addition, serve as a rocking chair. It consists of a rectangular frame A, a, B, b crossing a similar but wider frame C, c, D, d, the whole being held together by the pivoted links F below the point of crossing and by links H above the point of crossing bent as shown to serve as arms. The canvas seat is secured between the cross-pieces a, c, and may be wound round these cross-pieces and secured by a strap when the chair is folded. Corner or angle pieces may be used to strengthen the rectangular frames, and the ends of the cross-bar b are preferably extended to prevent an excessive downward movement of the seat.
