To prevent leakage of the high-tension current from the central insulated conductor of a sparking-plug to the metal body of the plug, air spaces are arranged between the screwed end a' of the metal body a, the insulator b, and the inner insulatorfwhich carries the conductor e. The insulator band sleeve j are preferably of porcelain and the central conductor f of mica, but other insulating-materials may be employed. Asbestos washers are provided at d, h, i, the two latter surrounding a collar g which fits tightly the conical insulator f. The whole of the parts are kept in place by the screwed gland k which bears on the washer m. The porcelain parts being enclosed in the plug body, are not liable to be broken. In a modification shown in Fig. 8, the central insulator is built up of mica washers and steel washers are provided at h, i. The conductor f and collar g may be in one piece.
