Abstract
11,412. British Northrop Loom Co., [Northrop Loom Co.]. May 16. Loom shuttles. - Selfthreading shuttles are provided with wearresisting block, which obviates the use of the usual eye-pins and threadguiding prong, the invention being described as applied to the shuttle described in Specification No. 19,368, A.D. 1904. A glazed porcelain or vitreous block 30 is secured in the shuttle in front of the metal threading- device, and is provided with a prong 35, which extends up into a pocket 20 formed into the threading-device. Projections 31, 32 on the block form the sides of a slot 34 and eye 33, in alinement with the threading-slot in the shuttle wall and the delivery eye, respectively. The weft, when it has been threaded, passes round the prong 35 and through the eye 33, and as the bearing-surfaces of these parts are rounded and are hard and smooth, the wear of the thread is minimized. The thread is prevented from passing over the prong 35 by the end of the prong being located in the pocket 20, and the thread is kept down in proper position partly by the shape of the eye 33, and partly by the overhanging edge 21 at the bottom of the pocket 20 extending rearwardly from the heel 22 of the horn 12 of the threading-device.
