A detachable choke-piece 4 is secured to the muzzle of a barrel 1 by being screwed into a sleeve 7, which is attached to the barrel by a bayonet-slot 8 having a stud 11 engaging with the sight-block or other "lock-block" 3 on the barrel when the chokepiece is screwed right home. The choke-piece is prevented from being unscrewed byratchet-teeth 6 on the choke-piece engaging a spring catch 12 on the sleeve.
