Abstract

10,709. Schmetzer, F. W. T. May 7. Hair-pins; pins, dress and like.-The two limbs, which cross twice near the points, forming a space h<2>, are united by a spring bow c. When it is required to insert the pin, the two points a, b, and the two parts d, e above the space h<2> are pressed together, but normally they are separated. The space h<3> may be made more pointed, as shown by the dotted lines, so that the pin is inserted more easily than it is withdrawn. The limbs are straight as shown, or curved and corrugated, and may be waved or curved in side elevation. When the pin is to be used as a hat-pin, one of the limbs is lengthened to pass through both sides of the hat.
