Brakes. - In conical clutches and brakes, the conical part F is pressed forward by movement of a conical sleeve J, which presses balls M radially between conical surfaces H, E, the latter being carried by a spring plate C on the part A and adjusted by a screwed part D. When withdrawn, the sleeve J strikes a collar on the shaft G which carries the cone F, thus positively disengaging the clutch or brake.
