Each section consists of two parts, one 4<a> of almost circular cross-section and the other 4<b> semicircular. Helical springs are placed inside the sections and are fastened at one end to the outer member 4<b> and at the other to a spoke 3, and the two members are held together by a pin-and-slot connexion 5, 6. Each section tapers and fits into the next.
