Abstract

5005. Kingsbury, A. March 6,1905, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Clutches.-In a centrifugally-operated band friction clutch, the shaft 5, driven by an electric motor &c. 6, carries a plate 2 provided with a projection 19 which fits between the ends of the slotted band 3. An annular projection 15 on the band fits a groove 1 1 in the plate 2, and a spring 4, adjustable by means of a screw 18, keeps the parts normally disengaged. When the shaft 5 is rotated, the band is engaged by its own mass with the drum 31 on the pulley 1.
