Portable apparatus; producer gas.-In a portable and semiportable engine actuated by suction gas a coal receptacle b is combined with the gasproducer a and has a sloping floor e so that coal is automatically fed forward by the jolting of the engine through an opening f, which may be regulated by a flap, slide, or other adjustable device. Under the coal-box b, which is adapted to carry a sufficient supply for several days or weeks, is placed a purifier and cooler or other auxiliary apparatus arranged in conjunction with a gas collector in a boiler g so as to be withdrawn, the front being closed by a lid h secured to the flanges as shown. The boiler supports the engine directly, or a saddle may be interposed forming a reservoir for water, compressed air, and the like.
