Abstract

131,170. Senior, H. V., and Bates, A. D. Aug. 22, 1918. Charging. - In a gas - producer for use with moist fuels, such as wood refuse. coir dust, cocoanut husks, peat, lignite, bituminous coal, &c., the moisture is withdrawn through an outlet A' in the side of the hopper leading to a chimney C, fitted with exhausting-means such as an ejector D supplied with compressed air, steam, or the exhaust gases from an engine. The outlet A<1> is shielded by a plate G and a perforated plate F, which forms a conduit extending down the side of the hopper. Back flow from the chimney may be prevented by means of a flap valve or water seal.
