Food preparations.-In preparing oats, barley, or other grain for use as food, the cleaned and washed grain is first soaked in cold water, and then the soaked grain with the hulls on is cooked in hot water for about an hour. After passing through a hot-air drier, the grain is granulated, cut, or broken in a mill, and the hulls &c. separated. Oats thus prepared are stated to be ready for use after treating with hot water for about fifteen minutes.
