Abstract
213. Helps, G. Jan. 3. Incandescent gas lamps.-In inverted lamps, the fall of glass in the event of the globe being broken is prevented by wire netting f attached to an intermediate supporting-ring b of metal or refractory material, which is itself secured by the usual setscrews d, m, thereby minimizing the risk of the globe being fractured. In Fig. 1, the ring b is shown integral with the flue b<1>, and is also utilized to support the shade g. The flue b<1> may, however, be made separate from, while being supported by, the ring b. In Fig. 3, the flue is made telescopic, and the shade is supported by hinged flaps l and is kept in position by a loose ornamental ring n.
