Motor road vehicles.- Relates to variable speed and reversing gearing for motor-cars &c., of the type in which concentric bevel-wheels are driven by bevel pinions constantly in mesh and able to be clutched to the motor shaft. Concentric wheels A<1>, A<2>, A<3>, A<4> mounted on the differential casing Y are in mesh with pinions D<1>, D<2>, D<3>, D<4> respectively. The pinions D', D<3> have hollow bosses with clutch teeth adapted to be engaged by teeth b on the end of a sliding part B* of the motor shaft B. The pinion D<1> becomes operative when engaged by a clutch E sliding on a squared part of the shaft B*. The clutch E is formed integrally with the pinion K, which may be used to communicate a reversed motion to the wheel A' through an idler J, wheel H, shaft G, and pinion D<4>. In the Provisional Specification it is stated that the reverse may be obtained through a wheel placed opposite to and facing the wheels D<1>, D<2>, D<3>.
