25,444. Downie, W. Dec. 7. Chests of drawers; tables.-A chest of drawers is fitted with a sliding top which may be used as a table. The top consists of a main part b, Fig. 1, and a hinged flap d. Bars a having bevelled edges are secured to the underside of the part b, and slide between guide-bars h, h<1> fixed to battens i at the front and back of the chest. Additional support may be given to the leaf d by vertical bracketsf &c. When the top is pushed back, the leaf falls down out of the way. To limit the movement of the top, the underside of each bar a is provided with stop pieces at the back and front.
