Abstract
24,750. Brewerton, A. C. Nov. 29. Roofing-tiles are 'aged' or given the appearance of old tiles by sprinkling and scrubbing with sand while still in the clay state. According to one method, the clay leaves the mill in the form of a flat band, the upper surface of which is sprinkled with sand, which may be contained in a hopper attached to the mill, and scrubbed with a brush manipulated by hand or by a machine. The sheet is afterwards cut into tiles and baked in the usual manner.
