Abstract

The decorative tile has a pattern which is composed of lines or bands inclined at 45 deg. to the edges of the tile. These lines or bands are of different colours or of different textures. When tiles are placed side by side, a repeating pattern is formed. This pattern can be changed by rotating alternate tiles or all the tiles of alternate rows so that a variety of designs can be produced from one standard tile. The principle can be applied to tiles of any material such as wood, plastics felt or concrete.
