Printing; producing magic-lantern slides and transparencies.-A device to enable the negative to be adjusted so that its vertical and horizontal lines will produce such lines parallel to the edges of the lantern slide or the like, consists in applying to the printing frame a screen of glass or other material having horizontal and vertical lines thereon. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a frame b with a small aperture b<1> is hinged to the main board a, having a similar aperture a', the two portions being clamped together by a fastening a<2> with the negative c between them. The frame b allows the passage of a lantern plate d to the back of the negative c. A door e is hinged to the main board a, which, swinging to the back of the frame b, excludes light from the rear, and by means of the fastening b<2> presses the plate d into contact with the negative. A frame f holds a ruled screen of glass f<1>, Fig. 3, which may be fixed rigidly at tight-angles to the door e, so that, when the latter is swung away from the back, the screen f<1> comes in position in front of the main board a. Preferably, the door e and ruled-screen frame f are hinged in line at the points a<3>, e<1> to the main board a, and are supported at right-angles by spring catches e<2> and pins f<3>. The screen may otherwise be attached to the frame by a pivot or by sliding in grooves. A T-square may be substituted for the screen.
