Abstract
21,792. Brookes, A. G., [Le Mesurier, H. G.]. Oct. 26. Roofs and roofing.-Roof principals are connected by longitudinal planks, forming an inner roof which is covered by metal sheets. Fig. 7 shows a plan of the right-hand end of a roof. Short battens e are secured by screws, and the extreme right-hand sheets are fixed by bending over the hooks of clips a. The next row of clips is then placed on the left-hand edge of the sheets, and the second row of sheets secured, and so on. The upper edges of the top sheets are curled as at q, Fig. 2, to prevent the passage of wet, and boards p are laid a short distance on each side of the ridge to allow ventilation and support ridge plates h ; clips g, j, similar to the olips a, are also provided. In small buildings, the ventilating-space may be omitted.
