Abstract

15,205. Roessler, A. C., and Air Light Co. July 24. Valves controlled from a distance.-Relates to gas lamps to which air is supplied under pressure, and in which the gas valve is operated by varying the pressure of the air supply. The air supply passes through a chamber b, one side of which is closed by a weighted diaphragm c connected by a rod or pipe d to a valve f which controls the passage of gas from the pipe h to the burner. When the air pressure rises sufficiently to raise the diaphragm c, gas passes to the burner, where it is ignited by a pilot flame. The gas and air may be arranged to mix in a chamber g before issuing in an uninterrupted concentric stream to the burner tube through a controllable nozzle p, or they may be led separately through nozzles which issue into the burner tube. A second cock-controlled gas pipe j is also provided to enable the burner to be used in the usual way without a separate air supply
