Abstract

14,790. Simpson, O. C., and McPeek, R. M. July 18. Oars; rowlocks.-Bow-facing oars are supported in a casting, consisting of a web a, secured to the inside of a boat's gunwale and a shoulder a<2> which bears upon the top of the gunwale. Above the shoulder a<2> is a webbed support a<4> for the oar. The oar is in two pieces with geared sector wheels D, D' mounted on a frame C which is journaled in the fork B. Pins b on the fork enter the support a<4>, holding the oar in position. By removing the fork B, an ordinary rowlock can be inserted in either pair of the alined holes a<7>.
