13,263. Harder, W. L. June 27. Gaseous-fuel furnaces.-Producer gas and air are heated and burnt in a brickwork chamber adjacent to a boiler, puddling-hearth, or other structure to be heated, so that the cold surfaces are prevented from cooling the unburnt gases to a temperature below the ignition point of the mixture. The producer gas is led from a main into a tortuous tube 9 in the furnace chamber 6, which is referred to in the Specification as an "auxiliary" furnace, and then into a box 11, whence it passes through two valves 24 to flared burners 14, and is burnt with air entering through a large number of small brickwork flues 15 and the perforated plates 18. The brickwork 25, beyond the bridge, when hot, maintains the temperature of the combustion products.
