Abstract

5326. Stock, G. J., and Putnam, A. March 4. Gaseous-fuel fittings.-To enable non-luminous gases, such as Mond gas, blast furnace gas, &c. to burn with a luminous flame in furnaces, they are mixed with an oil or tar which is gasefied by the heat. In the example shown, the oil &c. is injected at b into the hot parts of regenerators a and the gasefied oil &c., mixed with the hot gas from the regenerators, passes to the combustion chamber c.
