Abstract

13,244. Olds, D. E. June 27. Rails, securing to sleepers.-In order to avoid the necessity of making spike holes in wooden sleepers, the rails are secured thereto by the metal clip shown in side elevation and plan in Figs. 2 and 3 respectively. The rail flange rests on a metal plate 7 having upturned ribs 8 between which fit the rail flange and the fastening-piece 9. The securing-clip 10 is provided at one end with a horizontal bearing 11 adapted to fit down on to the rail flange, and is secured at the other end by the bolt 16 and fastening-piece 9. At the underside of the tie is arranged a key or horizontal plate 17 having smaller extensions 171 which project into the lower angles of the V-shaped parts of the clip. The rail is firmly secured to the sleeper by tightening up the bolt 16.
