Abstract

28,779. Masik, E. Dec. 31. Rails, securing to sleepers; chairs.-Relates to a device for preventing the creeping of railway rails. Fig. 5 shows a side view of the arrangement. The device consists of a rectangular spring-steel plate a, which has its outer part b bent downwards upon itself, and its inner part c bent so that its ends will bite into the flange of the rail as shown in Fig. 4. A hole is provided in the centre of the plate through which the bolt or nail e is passed for securing the rail and bed-plate or chair f to the sleeper. A washer g may be placed between the head e and the plate if desired. When the bolt or nail is fastened down, any turning movement of the plate a is prevented by its shape, and the rail flange is gripped against creeping.
