Abstract

6794. Bell, H. P. March 31. Generators or producers.-A gas-producing plant comprises three jacketed producers which are so connected by means of valved passages that each in turn may act as the first, second, and third of the series. In all stages, the direction of the flow of the gas is the same as described in Specification No. 2124, A.D. 1905. In the first stage, air passes through the jacket B before entering the producer I, from which the combustion products pass through the outlet D, and throngh the jackets F, G of the producers II, III to an outlet K leading to a chimney. Air may be admitted to the jackets E, G to ensure complete combustion and so beat the producers II, III. Steam with or without air or a part of the combustion products from the producer I is admitted to the producer II, at the inlet L, and the gases passing through the outlet M flow through the producer III, which may also be supplied with steam ; the producer gas so formed leaves the apparatus by a pipe P. In the second stage, the producer III becomes the first of the series and its combustion products are used to heat producers I, II externally, and escape to the chimney, producer gas being generated in the producers I, II. In the third stage, the producer II becomes the first of the series, and its combustion products externally heat the producers I, III, which are employed in generating producer gas. According to the Provisional Specification, the passages may be arranged so that the apparatus can be used as described in the Specification referred to above.
