Advertising; nameplates, signboards, and the like. - Glass signs, stall plates, and the like are made as follows: A plate A of rolled or other glass has one face a flat and the other face a' with an irregular or patterned surface, in relief or intaglio, preferably of the kind known as " Figured rolled pattern G." To the irregular surface a<1> is applied gold leaf or other brilliant or reflecting material a<2>, and this is protected by a coat of paint or the like. Both the surfaces a, a<1> have their natural polish. A coverplate B of ordinary glass is placed in front of the plate A, and on the back of the plate B is placed any desired lettering or decorative effect b, leaving parts clear to enable the brilliant backplate A to appear ; or the letters may be painted on the glass B so that the brilliant plate A appears as background; or a stencil plate may be inserted between the plates B, A, and this stencil may be either translucent or opaque, or both combined. Any suitable framing for the plates may be used.
