Ironing-machines.-In ironing-machines of the type in which a treadle mechanism it employed for the purpose of starting and reversing a reciprocating table, a guard-plate is so mounted and connected that it is depressed, almost against the table, simultaneously with the lowering of the treadle. The guard rail or plate h, Fig. 3, is lowered into the position shown in dotted lines, by depressing the treadle f, which not only moves the belt fork g to start the table c, but also, by means of leversj, lowers the rod k to which the guard-plate is attached.
