Abstract

115,604. Wilkie, W. Dec. 24, 1917. Ironing-machines with pressing action only.- In a machine for pressing cuffs, collars, seams, and edges of wearing-apparel, an uppen heated block B is slidable on a fixed rail D, and a lower heated block E is adapted to be forced upwards against the block B by means of plungers F, G resting on inclined planes P<1>, P<2> on an adjustable bar P engaged by levers H<2>, I<2>, which are pivoted at L and operated through links H<1>, I<1> from a counterbalanced treadle N adjustable in length. The bar P is moved longitudinally by a lever to adjust the machine for different thicknesses of material to be pressed. Hollow guards or receptacles T are provided to keep the articles out of contact with the machine or floor.
