Boats, launching. -In order that the weather boats may be launched from the lee side of the ship, the chocks are connected by a link or the like, and are fitted with wheels, rollers, or balls adapted to run in athwartship or other sunken guides or rails fitted in the boat deck, as shown in plan in Fig. 1. In one arrangement, the chocks 3, Fig. 2, are fitted with castors 4. The chocks are kept in their normal places by wedges &c., and brakes or other gear are used to control the load as it is moved about the deck.
