Abstract
20,619. Albany Manufacturing Co., and Lamplough, F. Sept. 24. Springs, bearing; vibration, preventing. - Relates to friction devices applied at each pivoting point of anti-vibration supports in connection with the springs of the vehicle. Fig. 4 shows one arrangement, a, b being pivoted arms, and the springs being connected respectively at d, e to the body and an axle of the vehicle. Fig. 2 shows sections of the friction devices, some parts being left out for clearness. The octagonal casing f is carried by one pivoting member, and the pivot g by the other member. Metal washers or plates are mounted on the pivot g, alternate plates h being prevented by a feather or otherwise from turning on the pivot, while they are capable of turning in the casing. The plates j can turn about the pivot, but, being octagonal in form, cannot rotate in the casing. The spring l, the nut m, and the plate l<1> press the plates together, and the plates h, j, l<1> are perforated so that they are lubricated by oil contained in the chamber made by screwing on to the casing the cap p. The two pivoting members are fastened together by the nut s, the flange n engaging in the groove o.
