Vibration-dampers.-Consists in fitting vehicle springs with a device which allows free movement in one direction but resists the return by frictional means. The spring 18 is connected by a link to a rotating clutch secured on the frame. The ratchet 13, which acts only on the larger vibrations, allows free upward movement, but on the return rotates the ring 2 against the friction of the split-ring 3, 4, which is adjustel by screwing the nut 6 and drawing the coned portion 7 more or less closely into contact with the ring elements 3,4. Rotation is prevented by a pin 8 passing through the bolt.
